About Fellow Hills Pastoral
Our Story

Hamish and Abby Paton
We have been running Fellow Hills Pastoral since 2001. Our daughter Indi was born in 2007 and has grown up on the farm.
Both Abby and Indi are passionate about horses and regularly compete in polo, Polo X, camp drafting, team yarding, Stockman’s Challenges and working equitation.
Farming is more than just a business for us. We are a passionate farming family who care deeply about our animals, our land, our staff, and the people who buy our produce.

The Land
Our farm sits on the Billabong Creek between Holbrook and Culcairn, just upstream of Morven in southern NSW.
We are conveniently located midway between Albury and Wagga Wagga, allowing easy access for customers across southern NSW and northern Victoria.
Our alluvial creek flats provide ideal conditions for lucerne production and irrigated farming.
Sustainability
Our farming approach focuses on improving soil health, efficient water use, and producing more feed with fewer inputs.
Lucerne’s deep root system improves soil structure and increases organic matter, helping soils hold water and remain productive through variable seasons.
Efficient livestock production also helps reduce the overall carbon footprint of the system.

Our Beliefs
Our
Farming
System
Lucerne sits at the heart of our farming system.
As a deep-rooted perennial legume, lucerne improves soil structure, boosts organic matter, and helps our soils retain more water. Its natural nitrogen-fixing ability reduces our reliance on fertiliser and allows us to grow up to 3.5 times more quality feed per millimetre of rainfall compared to many conventional systems.
โ
Our system includes:
-
Irrigated lucerne under centre-pivot irrigation
-
Dryland lucerne production
-
Oaten hay
-
Pasture blendsโ
This integrated system supports both hay production and livestock while maintaining long-term soil health.
